Today early in the morning I went once again to do the CCIE RS written exam… I didn’t study really hard but I have cleared very easily! Seems that all the study for the lab exam has served for something after all… Anyway, I have that strange feeling that somehow I should have been able to clear the lab exam for now, but in reality things didn’t become as I thought… unfortunately
So, for know I will take this weekend off to be 100% with my family, and next Monday I will once again start the lab preparation.
Basically I will use the two workbooks from Narbik’s bootcamp as also the INE Vol. 1 workbook. The plan is to hit each one of the labs, one by one!!
I don’t have my home lab anymore, and I am leaving my actual company so no more “free of charge” real devices for me to play. From the top of my head I have been labbing for more than 1000 hours, which initially I though that would be more than enough to get the CCIE…
So from now on I will use uniquely dynamips and IOU for the majority of the time, and maybe here and there some rack rentals, for those topics that it is not possible to lab using these virtual racks.
Anyway and although I will do all the labs from the three workbooks, I have identified my weak areas, which are essentially those topics that are not the core topics but that from my experience they means around 40% of the points from the configuration section of the exam. So basically I will also need to lab some complex scenarios involving WCCP, some “weird” BGP features, some complex NAT scenarios, OER, EEM… details, details, details…
BTW, I would really need some good doc or book explaining WCCP (I don’t like the 12.4T from Cisco Doc, neither I think it is the enough
)… I would be very grateful if someone could drop me any advise about that!
